Google will include page experience in its rankings. At its core are three measurements: how fast the main content loads, how fast the page responds and how much the layout shifts.
The three numbers
Largest Contentful Paint measures when the biggest block is visible, ideally within 2.5 seconds. First Input Delay measures the response to the first click. Cumulative Layout Shift measures the shifting while the page loads.
The quickest wins
Compress large images and give them a fixed width and height. Load scripts from chat widgets and trackers only when needed. And choose hosting that fits your traffic.
No need to panic
Good content remains more important than a perfect score. But between two equally strong pages, speed can make the difference, and a fast page converts better anyway.
